Gillian Whitlock started her professional makeup career in Seattle, Washington, in the late 1990’s doing makeup for celebrities and sports figures on a live local morning television program.
A graduate of CSUN, in 1997 Gillian moved back to Los Angeles where she got representation, moving her into a print career. She began to work with many celebs from Slash to Josie Bissett to Dr. Drew.
Over the years, she has also been the key artist on many print ad campaigns like Visa with legendary photographer Elliott Erwitt, PowerBar with Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps, and Puma with Ludacris.
From 2001-2010, Whitlock’s focus was mainly commercials. Clients include Master Card, Walmart, Arby’s and Cadillac, to name a few. She also has numerous music videos on her resume including
Good Charlotte, The All-American Rejects, and Rise Against, working with directors like Len Wiseman, Jordan Brady, Ramaa Mosley and Kevin Kerslake.
For several years Gillian was the Beauty Editor at Hers magazine. She worked closely with acclaimed sports photographers Art Brewer, Michael Darter and Ian Logan. As well as working on the photo-shoots and with athletes, Whitlock collaborated with the Fashion Director and wrote articles regarding makeup tips.
Over the years she’s had the privilege of working with top athletes such as Gretchen Bleiler, Bethany Hamilton and Magic Johnson and companies like Oakley and Adidas.
Gillian is a union gal -Local 706- who works consistently in the TV and film world. She is the key make up artist for Fox’s comedy The Last Man on Earth & Fox’s Enlisted. Gillian was also the key artist on the first 2 seasons of HBO’s Togetherness. Gillian has worked on all seasons of ABC’s hit show Shark Tank. She was the key make up artist for Sofia Coppola’s film, The Bling Ring. & Whitlock was
Molly Ringwald’s artist for the movie Jem & the Holograms.
She has a great handle on makeup for HD, as well as film, and is generally known for her fast pace and natural touch.
